This summery looking top is made from remnants of a fat quarter, and cut from a very simple pattern that I made myself. I added a big pocket and accented the whole thing with textured trim that contrasts nicely with the little arrows in the fabric.
I matched it up with a pair of leggings made with Simplicity pattern 1955. The instructions on the pattern show you a great construction method to run the elastic through the waist that is so much easier than doing it as the last step, especially with such a tiny garment.
I cut the leggings out of the sleeve of a T-shirt. My husband is always asking me to cut the sleeves off his T-shirts, and I am always happy to recycle them into doll clothes. You can use the factory sewn hem on the T-shirt sleeve to make the hem on the leggings if you position the pattern just right. It makes a nice feature for the otherwise plain leggings.
